Procrastinator's 7 Quick Takes Fri -- err, Saturday

1.  Garage sale score this morning - a 4 x 7 (picture size) digital frame.  $15.

2.  Supposed to be getting a call from the private school administrator this afternoon sometime about what the schedule might look like for this year (I'm returning to teach a couple of classes).  See here to find out more about the type of school it is - a mix between private school and home school.  Worked there for seven years previously, and I feel pretty good about going back in.

3.  Also doing a class at a co-op.  Registration is Thursday.  We'll see how many I get to sign up.

4.  Patrick is excited about the beginning of August, b/c he knows that means school starts back up.  He's looking forward to it!

5.  Kiddos spent much of Thursday evening and Friday morning swimming at the in-laws' house.  I need to buy more sunblock for them - we're about out of what I bought at the beginning of the summer.  They've been over there swimming a lot.  In previous years, we always had some left over, but this year?  Already out.

6.  The kiddos give me a great excuse to enjoy winter-y and Christmas-y shows in the summer.  Hey, if they ask to watch "Thomas Christmas" (the Christmas themed DVD that we have of Thomas the Tank Engine episodes), well, I'm not going to tell them they have to wait until at least November to watch it.  I'll gleefully turn it on (and listen in myself). ;)

7.  We spent a few days without the internet this week - came back from a weekend trip (Fri. and Sat., actually) Saturday night to find our phone and internet out.  Turned out to be a blown fuse type of thinger in the outside box.  We thought our modem was dead too, but on a whim, the hubby tried a spare power cord that we happened to have, and presto - it worked.  So, with all of that done, we were back up and running Wednesday evening.  In the process, we rediscovered/refamiliarized ourselves with some offline games (mostly on my garage sale Mac, since the games were older) - it was cheesy fun to play Connections again.  Gotta love James Burke. :)

Wow, I didn't realize it had been that long.

So even though it's Saturday, and thus not the official "7 quick takes" day, I'm gonna do 7 little things anyhow.  Unless I can't come up with 7, heh.

1.  Monday - gonna be chatting with the new principal at the school I used to work at - looking at potentially picking up two classes there.

2.  Tuesday - Patrick has a birthday party to attend - his best buddy from pre-K, Ahmad.  I need to get out and get something for him this weekend.  Or perhaps Monday.

3.  So I need to find someone to watch Calla on Tuesday - since I really don't want to haul her with me to the party (It's at a bounce house type of place, and I know those have limits on attendees - had I thought to ask way back in June whether or not Calla would be able to attend, I would have, but it didn't even cross my mind, so I'm not going to ask with just a few days left.  (Yes, I need someone to watch the kiddos on Monday as well, but that's already covered.)

4.  If the classes at the school (physics 2 and chemistry) AND the co-op class (physics) make, then that will actually put me teaching M-F, heh.  But it would be two classes on M/W/F and one on T/Th.  Potential childcare is lined up except for Tues and Wed.

5.  It is adorable to listen to the kiddos playing school.  Patrick is always the teacher, going through the calendar and weather with Calla and/or a circle of toy animals.

6.  Patrick says he wants to be a teacher.  Of course, on any given day, he might respond fireman or something else as well, but it always seems to come back to teacher.  I think it's pretty obvious that he REALLY liked pre-K.

7.  And we think he's reading.  Well, I take that back - he IS reading.  He recognizes words and tries sounding out ones he doesn't recognize.  It's just that his pool of recognized words is still limited (though growing!).  The hubs noticed Patrick sounding out words while he was reading on the potty, LOL.
